Deadline extended: UNIDO-FLCTD Innovation Challenge 2022

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has extended the deadline for submitting applications for its annual UNIDO-FLCTD (Facility of Low Carbon Deployment) Innovation Challenge for 2022.

The challenge is conducted by UNIDO with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), in partnership with various industry partners such as Customized Energy Solutions (CES), India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), AGNIi, Start-up India, AIC Sangam Ventures and others.

The annual innovation challenge covers six thematic areas:

  • Pumps, Pumping System, and Motors;
  • Space Conditioning;
  • Waste Heat Recovery & Thermal Efficiency;
  • Industrial Resource Efficiency & Circular Economy;
  • Industrial IoT Electrical; and
  • Energy Storage System.

Program Incentives & Application Cycle:

The winners of UNIDO-FLCTD Innovation Challenge 2022 stand to gain financial support of up to US$ 50,000, measurement & verification by Customized Energy Solutions, de-risking of innovations before commercial launch, industry linkages, support for financial mentoring, fundraising, and recognition from BEE, UNIDO, and IESA.

Who Should Apply: 

The applications are open to Indian technical institutes, universities, research institutes,startups in collaboration with industry-academia research institutes, micro, small & medium enterprises (MSMEs), industries public sector enterprises, and government laboratories.

Application Cycle:

The submission of applications for the Innovation Challenge 2022 began in the last week of April and will continue till June 30, 2022.
