Honda's automotive production and sales JV in China - the Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. - will be establishing a new production facility dedicated to EVs at Wuhan Economic Development Zone in Hubei Province, China.

Aiming to begin production in 2024, the new EV plant will boast an annual production capacity of 120,000 units. With the scheduled expansion of the EV line-up in the coming years, the company is gearing up its production system and capabilities in the country.

Designed as a highly efficient and smart facility capable of start-to-finish EV production, the new plant will conduct complete processes for EV production including stamping, welding, painting, assembly, and complete vehicle inspection.

The plant also will strive to achieve an industry-leading level of automation, mainly in the assembly area, the company announced in the latest press statement. Moreover, the plant will strive to follow sustainable practices including the use of renewable solar energy, recycled water, and reduction of volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions.

Honda has vowed to continue accelerating its electrification efforts toward the realization of carbon neutrality by 2050, by offering attractive products that meet customer expectations.
