Battery giant CATL to power Beijing Hyundai’s future EV models

Leading battery producer, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL) on Friday (April 25) signed a strategic partnership agreement with Beijing Hyundai to cooperate on Beijing Hyundai's electric vehicle projects and power Beijing Hyundai's future EV models with CATL batteries.

As part of the new agreement signed at Auto China 2024, Beijing Hyundai and CATL will focus on shared product development. Beijing Hyundai will unveil over 10+ leading global models equipped with CATL's latest battery technology including cell-to-pack (CTP) and NP. Further, CATL will utilize its expertise to develop high-quality automotive products and support Beijing Hyundai's business growth in China.

"CATL has established and strengthened its partnership with Hyundai over the past years," CATL stated in an official release.

Beijing Hyundai has sold over 12 million vehicles in China in the last two decades. Since its cooperation with CATL began in 2017, Beijing Hyundai has launched a series of popular models with cumulative sales exceeding 200,000 units.

In Oct. 2021, CATL and Hyundai Mobis Co., Ltd. (MOBIS) entered a technology licensing and partnership agreement as per which CATL was to introduce and disclose its CTP technology to MOBIS and also support MOBIS' in the supply of the CTP product not only in South Korea but also worldwide.
