Telangana govt. to support Amara Raja's Giga Corridor project

Automotive and industrial battery major, Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (ARBL) will receive the necessary support from the Telangana government for its INR 9,500 crore Giga Corridor project and advanced research facility set to come up in Telangana.

In a meeting held on Thursday (Jan. 4), Amara Raja Group's management met with Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy who assured that the Telangana government will extend necessary support to the group's Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) gigafactory and battery pack assembly unit currently being set up in Mahbubnagar district.

"Telangana is committed towards clean energy and advanced storage technologies like ACCs are a priority sector for the state," Reddy said.

The Telangana government will extend its support for operationalizing the ACC gigafactory, pack assembly, and ePositive Energy Labs.

In August 2023, Amara Raja Group held the foundation ceremony of its advanced energy research & innovation center, 'E Positive Energy Labs' at GMR Aerocity. Once functional, the lab will drive R&D, testing, and innovations in lithium-ion batteries.

The lab's establishment serves as a key development in Amara Raja's INR 9,500 crore Giga Corridor which also encompasses Li-ion cells and battery pack manufacturing gigafactory set to come up in Divitipalli.

"Together, with the active support of the Telangana government, we aim to position the state as a key player in the EV and Advanced Chemistry Cell manufacturing sector, potentially hosting India's inaugural operational gigafactory," Amara Raja stated in a social media post.
