HomiHydrogen to set up 1.5 GW Electrolyzer manufacturing facility in Pune
Pune-based homiHydrogen, a joint venture between h2e Power Systems, BlueBasic AMA Engineering (H2energy, Italy) and Greenstat Hydrogen India, is reportedly planning to set up a 1.5 GW per annum hydrogen electrolyser manufacturing facility in India to cater to domestic and export markets.
It is said that the company is set to invest $50 million on the proposed facility in Pune to make cost-effective and efficient electrolyzers of all types including PEM, Alkaline, AEM, and SOE.
Siddharth R Mayur, Founder and Managing Director of h2e Power said, "homiHydrogen is an initiative to build an ethical, sustainable, inexpensive and state of the art electrolyzers that will cater to the domestic needs and exports. homiHydrogen stands unique with its focus not only on electrolyzers but also critical components like rectifiers and transformers, R&D and last mile solutions. The name homiHydrogen is a tribute to the great Indian Scientist Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha."
H2e Power Systems, part of Adar Poonawalla's group of companies, claims to be India's first end-to-end green hydrogen and fuel cell company, with manufacturing facilities located in Switzerland and Germany.
Speaking on the development, Dr. Sturle Pedersen, Chairman of GreenStat Hydrogen India, said "GreenStat is excited to be a partner in India's journey to become a Green Hydrogen hub. homiHydrogen is distinctive as we will produce a bouquet of electrolyser technologies, which will cater to a wide range of market segments. This joint venture reinforces our commitment to Indo-Norwegian partnership".
Dr. Prashant Kamath, Managing Director of Bengaluru-based BlueBasic Engineering India, commented, "We are extremely proud that we are able to bring global technologies to India and manufacture them with the local Indian innovation to create a built to last product. Meanwhile, homiHydrogen is expected to commence production in 2023, and is committed to deliver a 100 per cent 'Made in India' product. The company has also announced its association with OIL India Ltd to build an effective green hydrogen value chain in the country.
