French battery technology firm Gouach has launched four models of modular battery packs that is democratizing the repairability of batteries in the micromobility sector. The company claims that its battery packs are designed in such a way that they can be opened and repaired in 10 minutes, instead of throwing away the entire pack once they malfunction.

These fully serviceable and repairable battery packs are offered in 420Wh, 430Wh, 540Wh and 560Wh power ratings. Gouach targets micro-mobility applications such as bicycles, cargo bikes and scooters, last-mile delivery vehicles, and so on for its batteries.

The company claims that an average of about 80 percent of lithium cells are still in perfect condition when a battery is thrown away. To pioneer a sustainable and circular approach to battery technology, Gouach has developed an innovative and patented design, where defective components can be replaced very easily and safely.

With no-spot-weld technology, these batteries has minimum components for easy repair and recycling. According to the company, the batteries are made of cells from battery packs that cannot be repaired because of their design but whose components are in perfect working order.

The company disassembles the packs and tests the cells to identify those that have an optimal capacity for micro-mobility applications. They are then sorted to create new battery packs incorporating Gouach's repairable design and technology.

Gouach batteries also features bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity for remote diagnosis and troubleshooting. Innovative internal algorithms help optimize battery life. Its batteries reduce the volume of electronic waste and divides by 4 the ecological footprint of the battery, it claims.
