The H2Eco Award was launched this year by the German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV) and Deutsche Messe. The award recognizes technical innovation, economic efficiency and entrepreneurship as well as the contribution to climate protection.

'H2Eco' stands for a hydrogen market economy that operates according to the principles of economic efficiency and in the spirit of sustainability. At the Hannover Messe 2022 event, the jury of the award determined that the newly-launched 'Enginius' brand of hydrogen trucks best fulfilled these criteria.

Enginius GmbH is a brand of German vehicle manufacturer Faun Group specializing in municipal utility vehicles, and is one of the first suppliers worldwide to offer hydrogen-powered trucks in series production. It focuses on hydrogen propulsion and claims to make a significant contribution in the fight against climate change using H2.

Thorsten Baumeister, COO of Enginius, accepted the award at the Energy 4.0 Forum at Hannover Messe. "We are pleased that our performance was honoured today by the H2Eco Award. It shows that our long perseverance has paid off and that we are on the right path to making the future climate neutral", he said.

The award was presented by Werner Diwald, chairman of the board of DWV, and Arno Reich, senior vice president at Deutsche Messe. He commented, "With the H2Eco Award, we are sending a clear signal that companies are ready and that the market ramp-up has already begun".

"This is clearly demonstrated by our winner this year, ENGINIUS. It is no longer about research and development, but about the concrete market launch. Politicians must now also create the conditions for this", he added.

Clean Logistics SE and eFarming GmbH (GP Joule) were among the finalists nominated for the H2Eco award this year.
