Enel Green Power has announced that it has arrived into a partnership agreement with Switzerland-based energy storage company, Energy Vault for the deployment of EVx, a gravity energy storage technology platform.

The transaction targets assimilating the recycling of decommissioned wind turbine blades into the weights used by Energy Vault's innovative gravitational energy storage system.

As per the company statement, this will encompass the useful life of materials used in the wind power supply chain by over 35 years and an equivalent cost reduction of the Energy Vault's gravity energy storage technology.

"By meticulously working with Enel Green Power, Energy Vault will seek to bridge the remaining gap in the clean energy ecosystem by providing cost-effective and sustainable energy storage solutions while accelerating the innovative application of recycled materials throughout the value chain," said the statement.

It added that this strategic partnership will facilitate clean energy companies to increase the sustainability of their infrastructure footprint while simultaneously accelerating the transition towards renewable energy.
